Samoset Resort was so incredible that we decided to do a dedicated travel guide on it.
We stumbled upon this place when searching for golf courses online that we wanted to play on my brother, Kyle's, graduation trip. At the time, we weren't sure which part of the country we were going to.. we had tossed around West Coast, Midwest, and Northeast, but I sent Kyle the link to the resort and he immediately said, "book it." So, we did. and it was EPIC.
Here's why we loved it.. and why you should go to Maine and stay there, too.
We've included the costs at the end!
all the VIEWS.
Located directly on the Atlantic coast, the views from the entire property are breathtaking. A short gravel trail takes you down to the water's edge where you can walk along the coastline and take it all in.
2. Location
It's located in Rockport, Maine - a unique, coastal, small-town feel city that was super relaxing (especially after 4 days in NYC and Boston). Rockport has grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, local small business shopping downtown (highly recommend Puffin's Nest for ALL your Maine souvenirs, and GREAT LOBSTER - gotta go give Claws a try - very Maine-esque with a great view of the water. Samoset is only 3 hours north of Boston-Logan International Airport, so it's easily accessible once you land in BOS. It's also only 2 hours south of Acadia NP, which (in our opinion) is home to Maine's most incredible spots.
3. Hospitality
From the first phone call to inquire about rates, to our arrival, to contacting room service during our stay, to our departure, hospitality was a good as it gets. They hooked us up with all the information we needed, recommended places for the best lobster in town, and best spots along the coast.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that had 2 queens and a queen pullout. It also had a balcony with a view of the golf course and the Atlantic Ocean. The room was clean, a great size for 5 people, and the view from the balcony really put it over the top.
4. Golf
If you love golf, you'll love Samoset. We sure did. It has 7 oceanside holes, and 14 holes with views of the Atlantic. It's spectacular. We obviously didn't want to take our clubs to NYC and Boston just to play in Maine, but Samoset offered club rentals at a great rate. Kyle and I paid $30 each and got top-notch clubs and had the time of our lives.
TIP: bring extra golf balls. We lost a bunch. (we went to Walmart just down the road the night before and bought what we needed).
5. Outdoor Games
Samoset had outdoor games all over the property. They had a massive chess board, shuffleboard, horseshoes, disc golf, a massive swimming pool (that's heated in colder months), fire pits, fire tables, a basketball court, tennis courts, a playground, croquet, and more. We spent 2 evenings out on the property playing some of these games & hanging by the fire around the pool as the sun was going down. We had a GREAT time.
All in all, Samoset Resort put our 7-day trip over the top. It has it all. You can stay anchored at the Resort for several days and never get bored. It has a great restaurant on site with killer pizza and lobster. It has a spa on site that we heard GREAT things about (but didn't take the time to do). It also has a beautiful lobby with a fireplace and insane views of the golf course and Atlantic Ocean.
I think it's clear where we stand on Samoset. It's one place we'll be back to.

SAMOSET COSTS:
We got a killer deal when booking this resort - they ran a 30% off as part of their Black Friday sale last fall. We got 3 nights in a 2-room suite with a balcony & ocean view for about $800 (including taxes and fees).
Golfing cost $80/each + the club rental ($30/each). So, this was a little pricey. But, it was totally worth it to play this course on the coast.
We ate a meal at their on-site restaurant, which costs about $20/person.
